Documents & Compliance
Every vehicle we deliver comes with a complete, verified documentation package. Here is what you receive and why it matters.
Documentation is the backbone of cross-border vehicle trade. Incomplete or incorrect documents cost dealers time, money, and registration delays. At Autorent Europe, documentation discipline is not an afterthought — it is our core operational priority.
What you receive with every delivery
Certificate of Conformity (CoC / EWG)
An EU-wide manufacturer certificate confirming the vehicle meets European type-approval standards. Required for first registration in any EU member state. Issued by the vehicle manufacturer (not by us). We ensure every vehicle includes a valid, original CoC before dispatch. Without it, registration is impossible in most EU markets.
Commercial Invoice
A detailed invoice listing each vehicle by VIN, brand, model, colour, and individual pricing. Includes full seller and buyer details, VAT exemption clause (Article 138(1) EU Directive 2006/112/EC), Incoterms delivery terms, and payment references. This document is your proof of purchase and the basis for intra-community VAT reporting.
CMR — International Transport Document
The CMR (Convention relative au contrat de transport international de Marchandises par Route) is the international consignment note. It documents the custody chain from origin to destination, signed by the sender, carrier, and receiver. It serves as proof of delivery and is required for customs, insurance claims, and VAT compliance.
Vehicle Brief (Fahrzeugbrief / Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II)
For vehicles originally registered in another market and subsequently deregistered for export: the original registration certificate. Required in Germany and several other markets for re-registration. We handle the deregistration process and deliver the original brief with the vehicle.
VAT compliance
All intra-community deliveries from Autorent Europe are conducted in strict compliance with EU VAT Directive 2006/112/EC:
For EU buyers
Net invoicing (0% VAT) under Article 138(1). Reverse charge applies — VAT is self-assessed by the buyer. Both parties must hold valid, VIES-verified VAT identification numbers.
For non-EU export
Export invoicing with customs documentation. We handle export declarations, T1 transit documents where required, and coordinate container shipping for non-EU destinations.
Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & KYC
As a high-value goods dealer operating across EU jurisdictions, Autorent Europe complies with EU Directive 2015/849 on the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing.
What this means for you
For new business relationships, we may request verification documents including: certificate of incorporation or trade registry extract, ID of the legal representative, VAT registration certificate, and bank details on company letterhead. This is a standard, reciprocal compliance measure — we encourage partners to verify our credentials through the sources listed on our Transaction Verification page.
Sanctions compliance
Autorent Europe screens all partners against EU and international sanctions lists. We reserve the right to refuse or terminate any transaction where sanctions compliance is in doubt. Full details are in Section 12 of our Terms & Conditions.
