Dacia did something nobody expected: they built a full-size C-segment SUV that starts under €25,000 and doesn't feel cheap. The Bigster sits on the CMF-B platform, offers a 4,570 mm footprint — larger than a VW Tiguan — and comes with hybrid powertrains that deliver genuine fuel economy.
Since its launch, wholesale demand has outpaced every other Dacia model we track. Here's why.
The Price Gap Advantage
The Bigster's retail pricing creates a margin opportunity that dealers haven't seen since the original Duster launch. In most Western European markets, comparable vehicles from Hyundai, Kia, or Skoda are priced 30-40% higher for similar specifications. This gap translates directly into dealer margin or competitive pricing that moves units fast.
What's Driving Demand
Three factors are converging. First, European consumers are downsizing from premium brands to value brands — a trend accelerated by inflation and insurance costs. Second, the Bigster's size fills a gap that Dacia never addressed before: families who need genuine space. Third, fleet and rent-a-car operators are discovering that Dacia's total cost of ownership is dramatically lower than the competition.
Sourcing Reality
Production at Mioveni (Romania) is running at capacity. Allocation for cross-border wholesale is tighter than standard Dacia models, and lead times for build-to-order are currently 8-12 weeks. We maintain regular stock flow through our Romanian sourcing channels and can offer immediate availability on select configurations.
Our recommendation: prioritize the Hybrid 155 in Expression or Extreme trim. The TCe 130 is moving slower as buyers in this segment increasingly prefer the hybrid for fuel economy messaging.
